It’s well-documented on BuzzFeed dot com that one of my personal favorite subreddits to lurk in is r/movies: a subreddit specifically for movie lovers and everything that entails.
A man saying “I love movies. Gosh, I love movies!”
“When Cady comes home from the Halloween party and Janis and Damian are watching a movie and they get scared by her costume, the popcorn in the bowl goes flying everywhere. Then when the camera cuts back to them, the popcorn bowl is full again.”
“In the opening sequence, the Beast rips his portrait to shreds with his claws, from the upper left corner to the bottom right. Later in the movie, when Belle discovers the portrait, it’s torn from bottom left to upper right corner.”
“It is shown repeatedly, that when Ashton Kutcher goes back in time and changes something, he is the only one who is aware of the changes, as he is then propelled back to the new future he created. When he blows off his arms, he wakes up in the future and is shocked to be limbless, but all his roommates are like ‘Duh dude, of course you have no arms.’ However, at one point, Kutcher is in a prison cell and attempts to make another prisoner believe his powers. So he travels back in time, stabs his hands and goes back to the prison. Despite even minor changes having the potential to create new timelines, he’s right back in prison, and the prisoner recognizes the new scars, which goes against all the logic the movie showed.”
“I just watched the original one and realized they ‘can’t get wet,’ but are all running around in snow the entire movie. Also, during the bar scene when they’re all drinking beer, it gets splashed around a lot. It’s not meant to be a serious movie, but the whole first 30 minutes is setting up the ‘rules,’ then like 3/4ths of the movie they make no difference after Stripe falls into the pool and multiplies like crazy.”
“The fact the cops were said to be trapped underground for, what? Months? Yet no one looked like they even have five o’clock shadow, and their uniforms were still perfectly fine.”
“They get the height of the staff from the headpiece at ‘six Kadam high,’ which Indiana Jones says is ‘about 72 inches.’ Then the old man says the other side of the headpiece says to ‘take back one Kadam’ to honor God. So, if ‘six Kadam’ is ‘about 72 inches,’ that means ‘one Kadam’ is 12 inches, so a ‘Kadam’ is about one foot, so the staff is 6 feet high. Then ‘take back one Kadam’ would put the staff at five feet, right Harrison Ford is over six feet tall, and the staff should be five feet — so why is the staff like 10 feet when they show him in the Well of Souls?”
“It’s one of my favorite films. I believe, as well as many others do, it’s a masterpiece. But there is one particular scene in that movie that makes no sense to me: after Andy crawls through his self-made tunnel and climbs down to where the sewage pipe is, he then grabs a rock and begins to strike the pipe whenever there is loud thunder. After a few hits, the sewer pipe breaks, and sewage spews upwards like a geyser and douses Andy. I’ve always wondered why that happened? Are the contents of the sewer pipe under pressure? Andy ends up crawling 500 yards to his freedom through the pipe, but at the end of it, there isn’t a covering or anything and it just empties out into a stream. So it seems obvious to me that the sewage inside isn’t pressurized?”
“The way Bella keeps shaking the ketchup bottle at her plate, yet theres no ketchup coming out—but she has ketchup. Anytime I feel sad, I remember this and laugh.”
(There is inexplicably no video clip for this scene online, so please enjoy this gif instead):
14.Forrest Gump (1994)
Paramount Pictures
“The moment when Forrest realized that little Forrest is his son — one of the most emotional moments in the film — AND THAT DAMN IRON IN THE BACKGROUND KEEPS SWITCHING POSITIONS! I can’t ever unsee it, and now, you won’t either. You’re welcome.”
15.The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
New Line Cinema
“Frodo’s eyes switch between being open and being closed depending on the camera angle after he gets paralyzed by Shelob. In an otherwise flawless franchise, I can’t unsee this mistake. I hate it.”
“The first suitor for Jasmine has his pants bitten through by Rajah the tiger and you can see his boxers, yet, in the tiger’s mouth afterward, it’s the same fabric as the suitor’s boxers, when it should be the same color as his pants instead.”
17.Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2004)
Buena Vista Pictures Distribution
“If the pirates in the first one were able to walk on the sea floor, why were they so concerned with Elizabeth’s threat to drop the medallion in the port in the beginning of the movie? If what they said is true and the ‘gold calls to us,’ then they should have no problem jumping in right after it.”
“During Snoke’s throne room fight scene, one of the troopers has Rey in a position where he could easily stab her in back, ending their fight, but the editors realized this way too late, so they instead edited out the dagger at the exact moment he could have stabbed her.”
“According to the song, Rudolph’s nose is shiny. And, if you ever saw it — it’s so shiny — you would even say it glows. But it doesn’t actually glow! It’s just so shiny it looks like it’s glowing! Therefore, his nose can only glow when another light source is shining on it. So, Rudolph wouldn’t have lit shit on that foggy Christmas Eve unless Santa had another light shining on him, which, if he had, would negate the need for Rudolph in the first place. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.”
