Navigating the Columbia River by way of photography

Though residing in Hood River, photographer Robbie McClaran thought of the Columbia Gorge as a playground of types. McClaran experienced a curiosity for the location and desired to master more about the Columbia River.

To capture a feeling of the river’s record, he shot the pictures featured in “The Fantastic River of the West,” on film making use of antique, substantial format cameras.

“It reminds you of images that ended up created at the time. I guess the digicam was built close to the switch of the century,” McClaran claimed. “And so I preferred these images to have that bodyweight of a historic doc.”
