Black Mass director Scott Cooper’s newest film The Pale Blue Eye, focusing on the life of a young Edgar Allen Poe and a host of murders, previously announced Harry Potter‘s Harry Melling and The Dark Knight‘s Christian Bale for its cast.
Now it’s announced a LOT more cast members.
As reported by Deadline, the newly announced cast members are: Sex Education and The Crown star Gillian Anderson, Bohemian Rhapsody‘s Lucy Boynton, star of everything Toby Jones, The Last Samurai‘s Timothy Spall, Widows‘ Robert Duvall, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel‘s Gideon Glick and Steven Maier, Nymphomaniac‘s Charlotte Gainsbourg, The Letter for the King‘s Harry Lawtey, Carnival Row‘s Simon McBurnley, Little Women‘s Hadley Robinson, Molly’s Game‘s Joey Brooks, Encounter‘s Brennan Keen Cook, The Woman in the Window‘s Fred Hechinger, Greyhound‘s Matt Helm, and Gotham‘s Charlie Tahan.

Sadly, we don’t know who any of the newly announced cast members will be playing yet, but we do know that Bale will be a detective named Augustus Landor, who is investigating the aforementioned murders at the United States Military Academy.
The film is based on a novel written by Louis Bayard that was released in 2006, and is a project that Cooper has been trying to make happen for more than a decade.
Netflix have picked up the gothic thriller for a whopping $55 million – the most ever paid for a worldwide deal at the European Film Market.

Meanwhile, Christian Bale is making his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut next year in Thor: Love and Thunder, where he’ll be playing a character called Gorr the Butcher, the big bad facing off against Chris Hemsworth and/or Natalie Portman’s God of Thunder.
Thor: Love and Thunder has a release date of July 8, 2022.
